ReelShort Clone Development Cost: One Price, Real Running Costs

The software for a coin-based drama service costs less than the things around it: titles, encoding, bandwidth and store fees. This page separates the one-time platform price from tailored scope and from the bills that arrive every month, so you can budget the whole business and not only the build.

What the platform price actually buys

The listed price of $3,999 is a single payment for a finished product: the viewer web app, the Flutter store app, the operator console and the API behind them, with the full source code transferred to you. We brand it, deploy it to your server and connect your own accounts. There is no license renewal, no per-viewer charge and no share of coin or VIP revenue.

It is a software cost, which is a different kind of number from the cost of running a drama business. Titles, subtitling, bandwidth, payment fees and moderation staff are separate budgets that belong to you. Anything beyond the shipped scope, such as a payout flow or a new module, is available, with the scope confirmed with us, and typically takes two to eight weeks. Read the figure as the price of owning the vending machine: it is paid once, it does not grow with viewers, and it does not shrink if a season underperforms.

Ready-made, custom build or rented SaaS for a drama app

Three routes lead to a working coin-unlock service. The comparison stays qualitative on purpose, since the real figure for a custom build depends on team, region and scope. What matters is what each route leaves you to build, rent or negotiate afterward.

What adds to the price

The one-time price covers the platform as demonstrated. Cost rises when scope does, and these are the typical reasons. Each one is quoted from a short written brief, so you see the figure before any work begins.

  1. A viewer payout flow

Withdrawal records exist in the schema, and we build the cash-out screen, operator payout desk and bank connection around them. Payout rules differ by country and license terms, so this is built to your market. It is usually the largest single addition operators ask about and deserves its own scope.

  2. Adaptive streaming and DRM

Adaptive bitrate playback through a video service, or a license step in front of protected streams, are modules we set up for your build, with the scope confirmed with us. Both depend on accounts you hold with an encoding or DRM vendor, so the module cost and the vendor bill are two different line items.

  3. Regional pricing

Selling coins and plans at different local prices per country needs a regional pricing module and a payment gateway that charges those currencies. It matters when you serve markets with very different spending power, and it adds testing work for each currency you enable.

  4. Partner catalog import

If you license titles from partners who expose an API, a scheduled import can pull series into the console so they behave like any other title. The cost depends on the partner format and how often content changes, and is quoted after we see their documentation.

  5. Security hardening work

The security reference lists a hardening backlog covering password storage, rate limiting, origin rules and route-level permissions. Closing items is scoped work, and the number you pay depends on how many you want done before launch and how your auditors read them. A launch that only sells coins through a hosted checkout carries a smaller exposure than one adding payouts, so read the list against your own plan instead of closing it blindly.

  6. Season voting and extra modules

Polls on which title earns another season, with free and paid votes, come as a module we set up for you. Other additions, such as new reward types or a different wallet rule, are tailored work. Each is estimated from a brief, with no obligation to proceed. A useful brief names the viewer action, the coin effect and the screen it lives on, for example a bonus that credits reward coins after a follow, because the wallet's two balances make the exact rule matter.

The six-day ReelShort Clone launch, day by day

Launch takes six working days from kickoff. This is who does what on each day, so the schedule has no surprises on either side.

Six-day launch plan for the ReelShort Clone
DayWhat we doWhat you do
Day 1Kickoff and brand intake We confirm scope, collect logo, colors and store names, and agree gateway, storage and ad choices for your launch. Send brand assets, domain access and the markets you plan to sell in.
Day 2Branding and economy settings We apply your identity across web, app and console, then set locales, default currency, free window and first coin prices. Decide the free window, coin pack sizes and VIP plan lengths.
Day 3Server deployment We deploy the web app, console and API to your server behind nginx and PM2 and seed the demo catalog. Provide hosting access and any DNS changes the domains need.
Day 4Connect your accounts We wire storage, your payment gateway and AdMob units, then test a purchase and a rewarded unlock end to end. Supply merchant account keys and ad unit IDs.
Day 5Catalog and test pass We help load your first titles and episodes, run through the unlock paths, and fix configuration issues found. Hand over episode files, artwork and subtitles for the opening titles.
Day 6Handover and store help We walk your team through the console, hand over the code and documents, and start app publishing support. Open store developer accounts and approve the final build.

The bills that arrive after launch

None of these are charged by us, which is exactly why they go missing from comparisons. A drama service is judged on its monthly costs, so put them in the plan before you commit to a launch date.

  • Titles and licensing

The catalog is the business and the largest variable. Producing or licensing drama, and clearing rights per territory, is entirely yours. The demo titles that ship are seed material with royalty-free stills, not licensed content, so budget for real titles before opening to the public.

  • Encoding and subtitling

Every episode needs consistent encoding, artwork and, for each language you serve, a subtitle file in the supported formats. Doing this for a growing library is a standing workload, whether handled by your staff, a vendor or a freelancer. Skipping subtitles on a title shuts out the language communities that are often the cheapest audience to reach, and uneven encoding shows up as buffering on the very screen where you ask for payment.

  • Bandwidth and storage

You host the platform, so you pay for storage and delivery. Vertical episodes are often watched to the end, and delivery cost grows with audience size. Placing a CDN in front of your bucket is a deployment decision that affects this monthly bill.

  • Payment processing fees

Each gateway charges its own fee per transaction and requires a merchant account with its own approval time. Coin packs are small purchases, and some processors price small transactions less kindly, so test the real fee on your typical basket.

  • Store accounts and commission

Apple and Google developer accounts carry fees, and where store billing is mandatory for digital goods the stores take a commission on in-app coin purchases. Many operators sell coins on the web at full margin and use store billing only where required.

  • Ad network terms

Rewarded ads earn through your own AdMob account, so payouts, thresholds and policy compliance are between you and the ad network. Poorly placed ads can also reduce coin sales, so watch both income lines together. A viewer who meets an ad prompt on every locked episode may never reach the coin pack screen, so compare the daily cap per title against coin sales once you have a few weeks of data.

  • Moderation and support staff

Someone has to read the report queue, answer wallet questions and handle purchase disputes. Even a small service needs named people for these routines, and their time is a recurring cost no software invoice includes. Refund and missing-coin questions land here first, and a viewer who bought coins and cannot find them expects an answer the same day, so decide who owns the ledger lookup before launch.

  • Hosting and monitoring

The API, database and web build run on servers you pay for, along with backups and uptime monitoring. A single decent server is enough to begin, but plan for growth in database size and media volume as the catalog and audience expand.

Why the platform price is fixed

A fixed price works here because the product already exists. What you pay for is rebranding, deployment, connection of your accounts and handover, and none of those tasks is open-ended. A range with a floor would only exist so the number could grow after you committed, and we would rather you see the figure first. It also commits us to something practical: the scope you saw in the demo is the scope you receive, and a request beyond it is confirmed with you in writing instead of being absorbed and renegotiated mid-project.

The commitment runs both ways. The platform you saw in the demo is what we deploy for the listed price, and anything you add is confirmed with us in writing before work starts. You can also hold us to the basics: full source code, no monthly license, no share of your revenue, and sixty days of support after delivery.

The demo runs the product end to end: a viewer app on the web and on Android, plus a view-only operator console. It carries our demo branding and a seed catalog of royalty-free stills, so use it to judge the unlock flow, the wallet and the console, not the content.

ReelShort Clone cost FAQs

Is the platform price a deposit or the full amount?

It is the full one-time price for the ready-made platform, covering the web app, the store app, the console and the API with source code. Extra modules and tailored work are confirmed with us in writing before they start. Your own running costs, such as hosting and gateway fees, are paid directly to those providers and never pass through us.

Do I pay again when the next version arrives?

No. Updates are included for one year after delivery with no fee, and there is no recurring license. After that year you keep running the version you have, and you can ask us about later updates or take the code to any engineering team. Because you own the source, there is nothing to renew just to keep the service online.

Is hosting included?

Hosting is not part of the price. The platform runs on your own server, and we deploy it there during the six working days. You choose and pay for the hosting provider, storage and CDN. This keeps your data in your hands and lets you scale or move providers without asking us, though it does mean the monthly bill is yours.

Can I start with the web app and add the store app later?

The price covers all clients together, but you do not have to publish everything at once. Many operators validate pricing on the web first and open the store app later. Remember that rewarded ads earn only through the store app, so that income line waits until the app is live.

What does a tailored feature cost?

It depends on the scope, so we estimate from a short written brief and agree the figure before work begins. Tailored work typically takes two to eight weeks. The estimate is based on what changes in the data model, the clients and the console, not on a generic hourly formula, and you are free to decline.

Does the price cover store publishing?

It covers our help in preparing the iOS and Android builds for submission. The developer accounts, the listings and the review outcomes belong to you and the stores. Review timelines and any rejections are outside our control, so leave room in your launch plan for the stores to take their own time.

What if I need the first payment gateway approved before launch?

Start the merchant application on day one. The platform work finishes in about six working days, while a processor review can take longer and runs on its own clock. We connect your keys as soon as you have them and test a purchase end to end, so the gateway is usually the item that sets the public launch date.
