ShortMax Clone Development Cost: Platform Price and Reward Spend

With a retention-led product, the figure that matters most after launch is not the software. It is how many coins you give away and what each returning viewer costs. This page states the one-time platform price, explains what extra scope would add, and shows how reward spending behaves as a running cost.

The platform price and the reward budget are separate things

The platform costs $3,999 once. It covers the viewer web app, the Flutter app, the operator console with the reward tabs and campaign desk, and the API, deployed to your server under your brand, with the source code. There is no fee per viewer, per message sent or per referral credited, and no share of your revenue comes to us. That matters for a retention product in particular, because its success is measured in more actions per viewer, and none of those actions can trigger a new charge from us.

A reward budget is a different matter. Coins you issue for check-ins, tasks and referrals are inventory you will later honor against episodes, so they are a marketing cost that you control through settings. The platform makes that cost visible and capped, but deciding how much to spend is a business decision. Many operators set a weekly ceiling on issued coins and review it against sold coins, so the ladder is funded the way any campaign is, with a number agreed in advance.

Three ways to get a rewards-led drama service

Reward features are easy to promise and slow to get right, since they need a ledger, caps, expiry and reporting behind them. This table is qualitative on purpose and shows what each route leaves you to finish.

What would raise the price for a growth plan

The retention loop ships complete. Cost rises when you want something beyond it, and these are the common requests. Each is estimated from a short written brief, with no obligation to proceed.

  1. Attribution and deep links

Paid acquisition needs to know which source brought which viewer. Deep linking and install attribution are set up around the platform, which means integrating a measurement service and carrying the identifiers through signup. Scope depends on the vendor you choose and the events you want to track.

  2. Behavior-based audiences

The campaign desk lets you choose an audience at send time. Segments built from viewing behavior, such as people who stopped paying at episode five, are tailored work that depends on how you want the rules defined and how often they must refresh. A rule that recalculates hourly costs more to build and run than one refreshed daily, so decide how fresh the audience has to be before asking for an estimate.

  3. Stronger abuse controls

Reward schemes attract fake accounts. Beyond daily caps, you may want device checks, rate limits and review queues for suspicious referrals. These are scoped against your market and the size of rewards you plan to offer, since stricter checks cost more to build. A small reward needs light controls; a generous one, or a market where fake accounts are common, justifies more, and the cost scales with how much value a cheater could extract.

  4. Season voting

Polls on which title earns another season, with free daily votes and extra votes for VIP members, come as a module we set up, with the scope confirmed with us. It gives viewers a reason to return and a way to spend coins on something other than episodes. Votes are cheap to cast and visible to others, so the module suits operators who want a community habit beside the ladder rather than another discount.

  5. Regional pricing

Different coin and plan prices per country require the regional pricing module and a gateway that can charge each currency. It matters when your growth plan crosses markets with very different spending power, and it adds testing for each currency. Reward values stay in coins, so a viewer in a lower-priced market earns the same ladder while paying a different price to buy more, which is easier to explain than regional reward tables.

  6. Adaptive streaming and DRM

Better playback on weak connections keeps returning viewers from leaving mid-episode. These modules rely on accounts with a video or DRM vendor, so the module price and the vendor bills are two different lines. For a retention product the case is practical: a viewer who returns on day four and meets a buffering wheel has been won and lost in the same minute.

The six-day ShortMax Clone launch, day by day

Launch takes six working days from kickoff. This is who does what on each day, so the schedule has no surprises on either side.

Six-day launch plan for the ShortMax Clone
DayWhat we doWhat you do
Day 1Kickoff and loop design We confirm scope, collect brand assets and talk through what each reward should pay and how referrals should work. Share brand assets and a first draft of reward values.
Day 2Branding and reward settings We brand all three clients and enter your ladder, ad, social and referral values in the four reward tabs. Approve the values and supply your social follow addresses.
Day 3Deployment We deploy to your server, switch on the scheduled jobs and load the demo catalog. Provide hosting access and domain changes.
Day 4Gateways, ads and push We connect your gateways and AdMob units, and your Firebase project if you want push, then test each path. Supply merchant keys, ad unit IDs and Firebase details.
Day 5Campaign dry run We create a first template and audience, schedule a test send and check the inbox and statistics. Write the first campaign message and choose a test audience.
Day 6Handover and publishing help We hand over code and documents, train staff on rewards and campaigns, and start app publishing support. Open your Apple and Google developer accounts and sign off the build.

Running costs that grow with a reward-heavy product

None of these are charged by us, and several rise with the very features that make the product sticky. Read them as part of the plan, not as an afterthought, and give each one an owner before the first reward is issued to a real viewer.

  • Reward coin liability

Coins you issue are promises to give episodes later. The wallet expires reward coins on a window you set and spends them first, but every coin spent is still an episode you have given away. Put a ceiling on monthly issue and check it against revenue.

  • Referral payouts

Each referral credits the referrer in coins, and a successful invite loop can multiply that quickly. Size the amount against what an acquired viewer is worth to you, and watch the ledger for accounts that earn from referrals without ever watching.

  • Ad network terms

Reward tasks tied to ads earn through your own ad network account, with its own thresholds and policies. Over-rewarding ad views can breach network rules, so read them before setting caps. A daily cap per title protects both your coin sales and your standing with the network, and the network, not you, decides what happens to an account that looks inflated.

  • Push provider and messaging load

The inbox is part of the platform, but device push runs through your own Firebase project. Large audiences and frequent sends may bring their own limits and costs, so plan message volume with the provider terms in mind. Start with the inbox, which has no per-message bill, and add push only for the messages worth interrupting a viewer for.

  • Titles and licensing

Retention only matters if there is something worth coming back for. Producing or licensing drama, and clearing rights, is entirely yours and is usually the largest cost in the business. The demo catalog is seed material, not licensed content. A ladder that brings viewers back to a thin library simply speeds up the moment they decide there is nothing left to watch.

  • Bandwidth and storage

You host the platform, so delivery cost follows engagement. A product that brings viewers back daily will stream more, and the bill grows accordingly. A CDN in front of your bucket is a deployment choice that shapes it. Success on the retention side therefore raises this line, so review it alongside returning viewers and not only at launch.

  • Payment and store fees

Gateways charge per transaction and need merchant accounts, and store billing carries a commission where the stores require it. Small coin purchases are priced differently by different processors, so test real fees. A coin pack that looks profitable on paper can lose most of its margin to fixed per-transaction charges, which is easy to miss until the first statement.

  • Support and moderation

Rewards produce questions about missing coins and disputed claims. Someone has to answer using the wallet history, and reports still need a reader. Count those hours as part of the running cost. A streak that resets unexpectedly or a referral that did not credit is a small matter to the platform and a large one to the viewer, and a prompt answer usually keeps them.

Why nothing is charged per reward or per message

A product that pays viewers in coins would be awkward to license by activity, since the more it works the more you would owe. The platform price is therefore a single payment, with no meter on check-ins, referrals or campaigns, and no revenue share. A successful loop makes the platform more valuable to you without changing what you paid for it.

We commit to the same product shown in the demo, delivered under your brand with the source code, and to confirming anything beyond it with you in writing before work starts. Support runs for sixty days after delivery and updates are free for a year. The coins you issue, and what they cost you, remain entirely under your control.

The demo is best used for the growth loop: claim a check-in, watch a reward task credit the wallet, follow the referral link, then schedule a campaign from the console. It carries our demo branding and a seed catalog of royalty-free stills, so judge the mechanics rather than the titles.

ShortMax Clone cost FAQs

Is the campaign desk limited by message volume?

We do not charge per message and there is no meter on the campaign desk. Practical limits come from your server capacity and, for device push, your own Firebase project terms. Inbox rows are written for every targeted viewer inside your database, so very large sends should be planned with your hosting size in mind.

Do reward tasks cost me money directly?

They cost coins, which become an expense when viewers spend them on episodes you would otherwise have sold. Ad reward tasks can also earn through your ad network account, which offsets part of that cost. The analytics split issued coins from sold coins so you can see the net effect.

Can I cap total rewards per month?

Daily caps and amounts are settings, and the ledger lets you total what has been issued. A single monthly ceiling across every reward type is not a built-in switch, so most operators watch the analytics and adjust the daily values. A hard monthly cap would be a small custom change.

What does the first week cost beyond the platform price?

Mostly your own accounts and content: hosting, a payment gateway account, ad unit setup, developer accounts for the stores, and titles for viewers to watch. Reward coins you issue become a cost only when spent. None of these pass through us, and none is part of the one-time platform payment.

Can I add more reward types later?

Yes, as tailored work. The reward tabs cover the common types, and a new type would need a rule, a ledger code and screens in the apps and console. We estimate from a brief, and tailored work usually takes two to eight weeks depending on how much of the wallet it touches.

Does the price include the Flutter app?

Yes, the Flutter app for iOS and Android is part of the platform, and it is where the growth loop lands, since rewarded ads and the quests tab live there. We help with publishing, while developer accounts and review outcomes remain with you and the stores.
